Composer

After 10 years of creating international hit songs, Montreal-based music producer and composer, Louis Côté, still prefers to maintain a low profile. He takes tremendous pride in describing himself as a musical chameleon, a sound creator, who turns into reality the visions of fellow artists. For Louis, his art resides in his sharp ability to listen, absorb and invent powerful musical identities for singers, producers, film directors and multi-media creators in all forms of genres, building upon their strengths and direction. He professes no loyalty to any specific style: only to great music. Industry insiders quickly knew Louis as the producing partner of French-language international R&B superstar, K.Maro. Their music combined has sold over two million albums, and spawned an impressive library of number-one and top-10 songs in Quebec, France, Europe, the Middle East and numerous international markets.

Louis made his foray into feature film in 2009, when first-time director Charles-Olivier Michaud invited him to compose the original score for his picture, Snow and Ashes. The small independent Quebec film succeeded at unexpected emotional levels and went on to collect the 2010 Slamdance Grand Jury Prize, making a solid first impression on the American market as well as a nomination for Louis at the 2012 Jutra Awards. This experience led him to compose the critically praised soundtrack for the 2011 Quebec theatrical thriller, Angle Mort, directed by Dominic James and starring Karine Vanasse. Inspired by the approaches of directors like David Fincher, Sam Mendes and the Cohen Brothers, and the moody scores of films as varied as The Social Network and Tron, with its impressive Daft Punk soundscape, Louis has become an activist for close collaborations with creators of motion pictures from the beginning of a project.
